We’ve been to Patar, Bolinao!

It took the Busby SEO Test team and some friends almost 1 hour and thirty minutes to reach Patar from Alaminos, mainly because of the rough-road detour at Bani since the bridge before the town proper is under renovation effective December 10, 2008.

The long stretch of shoreline is a feast to the eye. Along the way, we passed by some of the infamous resorts of Bolinao like Puerto Del Sol, Punta Riviera and Treasures of Bolinao; some caves and the famed Cape Bolinao Lighthouse but our destination is actually at the end of the road, where the white sand beach is just as beautiful and untouched by artificial enhancement, and yet still pocket friendly.

Patar Beach overlooks the vast expanse of the South China Sea. Aside from the “kotong” videoke, (the defective machine eats your P5.00 like cookie monster ), and the large waves, we definitely enjoyed our Christmas party at the beach. Another, beauty queen was added on Pinay Beauty list… Miss Karla Paula Henry is 2008 Miss Earth beauty pageant winner. She bested 90 contestants from all over the world. And, I believe, her winning factor is her confidence and brainpower.

Even if she didn’t win a Bb. Pilipinas title, at least she got a better crown on her head. The “eight wonder of the world” Miss Earth 2008.

I really thought, Billy Crawford (the host) will call on Miss Tanzania as the winner. But, even if Miss Tanzania is not the typical Molato or fair skinned beauty queens, I still find her beautiful and oozing with confidence. Maybe if she didn’t stammered on the last part of her answer to the question, maybe it could have been her. hehehe

The final question asked to the four remaining contestants was:

“What would you tell US president-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever you were to meet him?”

And, Miss Earth Philippines’ answer?

“Environmental knowledge is something that all of us must share, but most importantly we must teach the youth that this is something that we should instill in them so that in the near future they will be the ones to take care of our mother Earth.”

By the way, I find it ironic that both Mirriam Quiambao and Ruffa Guttierez, were defeated by a black beauty queen, at least now Karla Paula Henry, won the title.

Karla Paula Henry from Cebu is our representative for Miss Earth 2008.

Karla gained popularity, when she didn’t win any Bb. Pilipinas title which she had joined earlier even if she is one of the crowd favorite.

So will our 20 year old, 5′7″ stunner win the title?

We really can’t deny that Philippines has this special bayanihan power when it comes to text and internet voting.

That is why it is not surprising to see the Philippines topping the rank for the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

But indeed, we really can’t deny too, that Philippines is so blessed with beautiful places and that is why we also deserve to be among the winners.

Please don’t laugh but Manila is really a big jungle full of complicated roads for me, that I’d rather take the taxi or ride with someone than to experiment my way over there.

Well, I know I am not the only one here and someone out there would appreciate my simple instruction if you want to go to MOA (Mall of Asia) without any trouble…

1. Ride the LRT 1 going to Gil Puyat.

2. At the right side (if facing Baclaran) left (if facing Monumento) of Gil Puyat station, there is a small orange jeep (fyi… they call it shuttle) waiting there. In front of an establishment named Nirvana.

3. Ride that shuttle and it will take you exactly at MOA.

I hope this simpleton idea of mine could help somebody out there.

Compared to other Malls in Manila, Mall of Asia has the advantage of having the sea (I think it is Manila Bay) as one of its attraction. I thought it is really nice and relaxing to stand by the rails and feel the nice breeze coming from the ocean if you are there. It is indeed a different shopping experience to try.
